Dear Chicago, summer’s with you are absolutely magical!
Yes it’s true, just ask anyone who has lived in the city for the last few years. No matter how terrible the winters are, no matter how many times we live through the polar vortex, summers in the Chicago make it all worth it.
There are a ton of activities happening throughout the city and none better than the Movies in the Park series that happens at various parks throughout the summer.
Last week I had the chance to check out one of my favorite movies of all time, Raiders of the Lost Ark, at my local park. A few friends and I grabbed pizza from around from one of my favorite pizza places in the city – Coalfire Pizza, stocked up on a few bottles of rosé, and had ourselves a picnic outdoors with 200 other people. It was one of the most fun and cheapest activities I’ve participated in this year and I can’t wait to do it again.
Speaking of Raiders, I was struck by how much I loved Karen Allen’s style from the movie. There was a bit of a retro yet modern flare to her outfits within the movie that I admire from that era. Maybe i’m just now noticing how quickly trends come back around
So when I saw this romantic picnic in the park dress from H&M this weekend, I was gaga over it. The simple sweetheart neckline and baby blue color had me feeling like Allie via The Notebook. Unfortunately I don’t have my own Noah in real life, but a gal an dream. The dress came in at just under $50 and with the next few days expected to be hot and sticky in Chi-town, I’m thankful that this dress comes in a cool cotton fabric.
So if you are in the Chicago area this week, Rachel and I, along with most of our friends are seeing La La Land tomorrow at Millennium Park. I’m pretty excited to see a musical this time in such a public setting as Chicagoans are known to bust it out karaoke style at musical events.
So, I’d love to know from you guys – what’s your favorite movie and why?
